I'd appreciate you guys taking a look at it and giving me pointers.
Though, I know it needs eyebrow ridges and shaping for the eyes, I just haven't gotten there yet. But how about the muzzle and the ears? (the ears are just pinned on at this point).
Thanks mucho!

This tutorial that was posted by Lacy was a big help

I figured I was going to use those plastic bowls for toony eyes but the material that needs to be painted on I'm unsure. There is of course "buckram" or mesh however you want to call it (I don't know the specific terms) But are there any other materials that can be used that can be painted on such as the pupil/eye color.
For me, the buckram or mesh seems like it would cast sort of a "haze" for the person wearing it while other materials have a clearer see through factor.
All names, links to sites/websites, places I can go to get it are appreciated.
Trying to hash out all the materials so I can start making my first fursuit head.
Thanks again for the help
*Edit* Does anyone know where I could find buckram in a store? Kind of want to avoid the shipping costs. Michaels perhaps?

i got this email
"My son is 12 years old and is mesmerized by your costume, "Dark Lurker." He wants nothing else for Christmas, but this costume. Would this be possible?
He would like to be a "mascot" or "a performer wearing a costume" when he grows up.
I am a single mom and homeschool _____and his 15 year old brother_______. Money is tight, to say the least, but I've never seen ______want anything this bad in his life. He's been talking about it for months."
i told her how i could not make anything too close to DL as it is his own design, and made sure the kid would be responsible with the costume (i was assured he would cherish it) i then decided to speak with the original darklurker about it and he did not mind having a mini-me as long as there was some difference between the 2 so i was able to give the kid something closer to the original that at first planned. the main difference is the purple which we did that because this is what the wings i use originally look like (though i did use some shirt paint to make the lighting more 3D and like viens) so i was able to give her the wings for only a little more than i paid for them (aside from painting them i also reinforced them). and we opted for just a head, wings and tail sine at 12 years old he would outgrow anything else. the body/hands/feet belong to this cat http://www.beastcub.com/apps/photos/albu
oh and i could not debute till now as it is an Xmas present :3
I just (like a day ago), got a white body suit in the mail. I'm going to replace the back portion that is airbrushed with fur, and turn this pretty body suit into a skunk!
Here's my quick Yule-tide question...
Anyone have any references for a skunk tail that could stand up and look good? I made a skunk when I was in sixth grade for a costume contest, but we held that tail up with clothes wire. I want something that will be soft and huggable as well as able to stand up. Is that possible or am I asking too much?
This will be a white skunkette with light blue markings. Any suggestions for skunk help?
Thank you!
Rona
P.S. Sadly the fursuit feet that came with the body suit were not salvageable. I can use some of the fur on them, but they are so worn. :(
I am currently looking for a few folks who would like to be involved with the various figure drawing classes I organize to be held at Furry Connection North in April of 2010. The main purpose is to help artists strengthen their skills by drawing from a live model.
I've had a few folks contact me in various areas, but in general I am looking for 3 signed on models and 3 back ups for the following areas at Furry Connection North 2010's event:
General Audience Clothed Human: One hour of drawing from clothed models (learning to draw from a figure with clothing).
General Audience Fursuit: One hour of drawing from fursuit models (basic human figure with exagerated features).
Adult Audience: Two hours of drawing from nude models (learning to draw basic anatomy and the human figure).
If you would like to help out with the adult session, security is normally present to make sure people are coming to draw and to make sure no cameras or phones are present.
I am looking for aditional instructors to help teach. The classes are usually done as a beginners class, but for those who have more experience additional tips and feedback can be offered.
This year at Midwest Furfest we were able to have two musicans play some live music for us on a violin and tin whistle. If anyone has experience playing a flute, woodwin, or string instrument that would like to participate, I am looking for a few folks who would be available.
If you are interested, please either leave a reply with your email address with the area you are interested in, or please contact me at chillymouse @ gmail.com and let me know what area you are interested in.

of all the tiger colorations out there the golden tabby, also known as a strawberry tabby, is my favorite coloration.
the tail was a happy accident in that all was trying to do was make it posable and it also ended up bouncy. the jaw is fully articulaed, the legs have a bit of padding on the knee and calf to avoid the pajama leg look, i am also happy with how i made the chest look fem wihout any padding just by using airbrushing. the hand paws and claws by artslave as i outsourced her for hand paws since i am so overbooked (and downright hate making them) the eyes are hand painted and came out just wonderful. overall i am pleased with this one, so much so that it inspired me to make a new head, why did it not dawn on me untill now that i could make myself a new large-breed cat head instead of a new housecat head to go with my bodysuit. For the past few days, I've been working on a personal suit head that has been sitting about for about a month, and I mangaged to get him finished in time for christmas!

Acme's bodysuit had over 100+ pieces and was a definite test of patience to put together. Joey has LED's in his cheeks that light up, and Mondscheine has tons of UV airbrushing, and glows with spots and highlights when under black-light.
Thanks everyone for your patience so far with my move ^^. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

I'm looking for something to medium or long length. Price being no issue. I'm looking for the main tan color of fur on a buckskin horse. (This is a buckskin for those that may be wondering, canaryzoo.com/Horse%20Colours/colour%20b
I found these solid long hair fabrics from Distinctive Fabrics:
distinctivefabric.com/images/products/co

And then this.

But I don't know if any of those would work nicely? If you've ever used those furs please let me know how it worked out for you. And please, if you have a better alternative go ahead and tell!
Thanks <3
So I've been thinking of building my first proper fursuit head in the future, and it occurred to me. What about taxidermy rug-shells or shoulder-mounts? I know that, for example, some animal forms are way too small.
In the case of my Versin fursuit in progress/renovations, I'd be using a wolf shoulder mount's head, or a rugshell preferably with its whole head. I was imagining that- since they're made of foam- I'd hollow it out and attach to balaclava mask, sever the jaw and make it moveable to my real jaw, and insert taxidermy jawset and sculpt where necessary/attach horns/add fur/etc.
I'm going for as realistic as I can get, but I suck at carving foam and can't afford to do the cast-method that Qarrezel and Beetlecat do (for example: they are my inspirations). I figure it'll be really hot, and plan to install a small fan in the muzzle. The main thing I have to do is measure properly. I'm pretty sure fitting will be fine, but I wanted to drop the idea to see if anyone's had experiences with this.
Has anyone experimented with this?
Thanks much. :)
I am also looking for vinyl or faux leather in roughly this color:

this is another commish, happy enough about it :3
advice n critz always welcome.
and thankyou to everyone that kept me company :D

checked the memories and couldn't find anything useful really
I'm in need of light blue/sky blue matte vinyl for an upcoming project, but the only place I've been able to find actual yards of fabric (that isn't meant for advertising or something) is Mjtrends.com and they tell me they will not be restocking it.
I need matte vinyl because otherwise it'd be wayyyy too shiny; I'm not going for a fetish gear look or anything flashy.
Does anybody know where I can find it? I didn't think it'd be this difficult. I looked into vinyl paints/dyes, but for something I'll be wearing around, I'm not too enthusiastic about the idea and I've heard mixed reactions on how well it stays on things mostly stationary (car seats), much less a costume outfit.
A blue close to this (doesn't need to be exact, but not much darker):

My mate, Rhumika, and I made a little Christmas video while we were spending time together this holiday season. It's not much, however, I thought you guys would enjoy it anyway - and I hope you do!

hand sewn markings this time. handsewing is a pain, but for me it is actually cutting out and lining up the pieces that drives me nuts, i had the markings drawn on the backing and i would cut and replace 5 inch segments at a time with the spirals because i knew that if i cut out and tried to sew it in as a whole piece i would screw it up. looking through moo's FA gallery every piece of art had different tattoos with some big style differences so i got permission to create my own design and got it approved before it was sewn in. Moo does not have black under the eyes in any of the art BUT the large mesh vewiports means vision is quite excellent in this mask <3 Also he has some really nice wiggle ears, they came out so nice and bouncy.( Pictures and Video )

Thanks!

I noticed there are precious few (if any) posts about scaly handpaws in the memories. I've been working on my gryphon partial, and I'm finding myself a bit perplexed as to how to handle them. They're supposed to be scaly, rather than furry, and are presenting a problem as to how to make them. I've been experimenting sewing my own below-the-elbow gloves out of upholstery vinyl, which turned out decent enough and at least felt sort of like leathery skin, but the problem there comes with the scales (which I very much would like; I'd paint them on if I had to, but wouldn't it be so much cooler to have actual scale topography on the gloves?). I'm almost certain cutting out the individual scales and hot-gluing them on would be a disaster, particularly at articulating places like the knuckles and wrists. Conversely, it seems to me that sewing them on would be as conspicuous as it would be time-consuming.
Here's a drawing of my ideal glove:

I looked online for costume dragon/reptile/bird hands and came up with this, which would work in a pinch I guess besides being the wrong color...except the scales don't go up the forearm and it isn't a below-the-elbow length glove.
Does anyone know a way I can make a scaly glove? I wouldn't know the first place to begin making a rubber or latex costume glove like the latter I just showed, although that would be the best fix if I could somehow poof it into existence I think. Does anyone have any other ideas for a way I can make a scaly glove to fit my specifications (wider scales on the top of the forearm, hands, and fingers, claws, below-the-elbow length), or clever way to attach scales to an existing glove? As a last resort, does anyone know anyone that makes and/or sells these?
Thanks so much for the help!
